The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo (also referred to as "3 Series GT") is the 5-door fastback body style of the 3 Series model range. Although it features a rear hatchback, the 3 Series GT is not considered a successor to the 1993-2004 3 Series Compact 3-door hatchbacks.
The first 3 Series GT, model code F34, is based on the F30 3 series platform and was released in 2013. At launch, the engine range consisted of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines in inline-4 and straight-6 configurations. All-wheel drive was available in the "iX" and "dX" models.

Chassis and Body
The F34 is based on the F35 chassis used by the Chinese market long wheelbase sedan. It has a wheelbase that is 110 mm (4.3 in) longer than the F31 3-series estate. The roof is 79 mm (3.1 in) higher than the F31 and the width is increased by 17 mm (0.67 in). These increased dimensions result in the rear wheels being located further back and lower with respect to the rear seat, and allows for three full-size rear seats.
